Sea temperature
Swimmable Jun–Oct (20–24°C). The Mediterranean side is calmer than the Atlantic west of Tarifa.
Levante & Poniente winds
Easterly Levante can make beach days choppy. Westerly Poniente is calmer — check the forecast before heading out.
Rainfall
Most rain falls Nov–Feb in short bursts. Drainage in older towns is limited — avoid driving through flooded streets.
Heatwaves
July–August can spike above 38°C inland. Stay coastal, plan indoor activities midday, never leave anyone in a parked car.
