The address
La Zagaleta was developed in the early 1990s on a 900-hectare former hunting estate that belonged to Saudi arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi. Today it is widely regarded as the most exclusive gated residential community in Europe — and the benchmark every other Costa del Sol development is measured against. The estate contains around 230 villas on plots that start at 3,000 m² and routinely reach 10,000 m². Residents share two private 18-hole golf courses, a private club house, a heliport, an equestrian centre and a level of armed-guard discretion that has attracted royalty, Russian oligarchs (pre-2022), Premier League owners and a recognisable list of tech founders. Resales are infrequent. New build is rare. Entry today starts around €10M for a renovation project and can pass €40M for the very best estates.
