Paperwork

  • Employment contract or freelance contracts (12+ months of history)
  • University degree OR 3 years' professional experience
  • Clean criminal record certificate
  • Private health insurance with full Spain cover
  • Proof of income (bank statements, tax returns)

Where to apply

Either at the Spanish consulate in your home country, or in Spain on a tourist visa (legal, faster, less paperwork in 2026).

Beckham Law upgrade

Approved Digital Nomad Visa holders can elect the Beckham Law special tax regime: flat 24% on Spanish-source income up to €600,000 for 6 years. Foreign-source income outside this regime mostly stays untaxed in Spain for that period.

Where digital nomads actually settle

Málaga centre (best coworking), Marbella town (best lifestyle), Estepona (best value), Nerja (best for solo/couple lifestyle).
