What it is
A 3-year residence permit (renewable for 2 more) for non-EU remote workers earning from non-Spanish sources. Created 2023, still the most popular work-residency route in 2026.
Income requirement
€31,752/year minimum (200% of Spanish minimum wage in 2026). Add ~25% for a spouse, ~12% for each child.
Who qualifies
- Employees of non-Spanish companies (need authorisation letter)
- Freelancers with at least one foreign client of meaningful size
- Up to 20% of income can come from Spanish clients

Approved Digital Nomad Visa holders can elect the Beckham Law special tax regime: flat 24% on Spanish-source income up to €600,000 for 6 years. Foreign-source income outside this regime mostly stays untaxed in Spain for that period.
